Dime

Model Description

Dime was the second 1911 model by GoatGuns with the pitch “Nicknamed 'DIME' this miniature toy version of the 1911 is top of the line. Designed after a historic classic, you'll be proud to showcase this dime off. Set it on your office desk and you'll find yourself fidgeting with during all the dull time.” There was also a note added a little later, “*New version! Now cycles dummy rounds!*”, while their website doesn't currently show either.

The frame, slide, and magazine are all a silvery gray color. The grip panels on this model are brown and look like they have a faux wood grain printed on them. It is a little hard to see in the wood gain in the textured area, but easily visible on the diamond accents and tapered edge across the bottom. The barrel, spring guide, hammer, slide lock, thumb safety, grip safety, trigger, magazine release, main spring housing, grip screws and stand are all black in color.

Other than the fact the earlier version doesn't have shell ejection functions built in, there are a few cosmetic differences between the early and updated models. The silver paint on the updated Dime model is more matte in color, while the earlier version has metal flakes throughout it that makes it sparkle. The hammer, pin housing for the thumb safety (little tube above the grip panel) and main spring housing (section on the back of the grip beneath the grip safety) are not painted on the early model and just look like bare metal, while on the updated version they are the same as the other black parts. Lastly, it isn't super obvious, but the wood color of the grip panels in a side-by-side comparison looks lightly lighter in color on the earlier model than on the current version.

This model has a functional slide that will eject and chamber a round as well as pulling the hammer back. The trigger also functions releasing the hammer when the functional grip safety if squeezed. The thumb safety on this model is only partially operational, it will keep the slide from moving, but it will not prevent the trigger from releasing the hammer.
