Bad Dreams

The Halloween AUG

Model Description

Bad Dreams may be one of GoatGuns most visually interesting models as of the time of its release. This limited Halloween edition release is the first of its kind. Unlike the previous two Halloween models Zombie Rare Edition and Jakal that were both painted by hand, this model used an ultraviolet printing method. The UV printing allowed GoatGuns to produce more than the twenty-five and fifty count of the last two models, still it sold out in about one months' time. The painting method also has a more uniform appearance between multiple models. Some fans on the GoatGun Addicts Facebook group have expressed preferring the hydro dipped painting method because even if they get multiple of the same model each is unique.

The colors of Bad Dreams are black, white, and red. With the base of the model the same as The Ounce model, the main plastic body and foregrip white and everything else in black it is the coloring on top of that, that makes the model stand out. The two sides of the model are a mirror image of each other. First, the bottom layer is done in red, on the stock is a pentagram with what appears to be a goat skull lining up with the points of the star. Towards the bottom of the main grip there is a bat and just above and behind the trigger it looks like a splattering of blood that stretches up onto the mount of the Picatinny rail and down onto the magazine. There are also splotches of red along the barrel and some kind of design on the foregrip but we were unable to make out what it was supposed to be.

In black on the rear of the model are two human skulls, well technically three, but the one at the very top rear of the stock only the jaw and teeth are visible, so it is easy to overlook. Right above the magazine is a large spider, we believe it is supposed to be a Black Widow, but the red mark appears to be on its back not its abdomen so could be a highlight or just a different view from the artists. There are two more smaller spiders in front of the ejection port and one more where the main grips' handguard meets up with the bottom of the barrel. There are more abstract looking designs on the model that we may be wrong here but it gives us the impression of a person, above the magazine are lines resembling hair coming down from the top of the gun and where the blood splatter is behind the trigger looks like shading used to outline a neck putting those two spiders in front of the ejection port on the individual's cheek and chin…

The base of the model also has a unique touch, it looks like the side was splashed with blood and someone took a one third sized finger and wrote BAD DREAMS into in.

The magazine is removable and the three dunny rounds that it comes with fit inside it. The designers over at GoatGuns did mess this one up a little bit though, the top of the magazine where the edges come together to hold the rounds in was put at the front of the mag instead of the rear where is should be, though it is only noticeable while the mag is out. The magazine is diecast meta, so it doesn't get the iconic translucent polymer, but it still looks great, and it is our opinion that the AUG model magazines are one of the most satisfying to change out.

As far as the rest of the model, the front grip does pivot, but won't go parallel to the barrel. The charging handle and be pulled back and locked open but the model doesn't have the blanking plate for one of the ejection ports so you can look straight through it, this model also doesn't have shell ejection. The trigger can be pulled, and it has a smooth action to it. There is also a single button to release the barrel from the receiver, a true feature of the AUG. There is a Picatinny rail on top, but it isn't quite sized right for some of the optics GoatGuns offers.
